What is Blacklane, and How Does It Work With the Citi Strata Elite?

What is Blacklane, and How Does It Work With the Citi Strata Elite?

If you have the Citi Strata Elite℠ Card, you may be wondering about one of the card’s perks: an annual credit toward Blacklane purchases.

Blacklane is a luxury chauffeur company that operates in over 60 countries and helps connect travelers with local chauffeur services. The company offers a variety of services, including airport transfers and city-to-city rides.

Holders of the Citi Strata Elite℠ Card receive up to a $200 annual credit for Blacklane. From January through June, you can get up to $100 off a Blacklane ride; you’ll receive a second $100 credit for a ride between July and December.

If you’re thinking about using your Strata Elite card’s Blacklane credit, here’s what you need to know before booking a ride.

    Four transportation options

Blacklane offers four ways to ride depending on your travel needs.

    1. City-to-city. As the name indicates, Blacklane’s city-to-city service transports passengers between two cities. Touting itself as an alternative to flying, city-to-city trips are available in over 60 countries. Wi-Fi is available in most cars.

    2. Chauffeur hailing. Blacklane describes chauffeur hailing as a combination of “traditional car service and ride hailing.” As of December 2025, this service is available only in Manhattan and London.

    3. Airport transfers. Blacklane chauffeurs can drive travelers to and from the airport. Large groups and their luggage can be accommodated by Blacklane’s limos or business class vans. Blacklane offers transfers for more than 100 airports.

    4. Hourly hire. This service is ideal for “journeys with multiple stops within the same city, perfect for a day of engagements with your chauffeur on standby,” according to Blacklane’s website. Bookings are available in more than 60 countries and include 40 kilometers (about 25 miles) of travel per hour. Rides can be booked for two to 24 hours. Rides that end outside the starting city will incur additional charges. Wi-Fi is available in most cars.

How to use the Blacklane credit

To get the Blacklane credit, you must pay for your ride with the Citi Strata Elite℠ Card. Rides may be booked on the Blacklane website or in the Blacklane app. (Note that chauffeur hailing can only be booked in the app.)

And as noted above, the card offers up to a $200 annual credit, but that’s doled out in $100 biannual credits. While $100 is a good chunk of change, it probably won’t cover the entire cost of a single Blacklane ride, which can be pricey.

For example, as of this writing, an airport transfer from Arlington, Virginia, to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) costs more than $117 in Business, the cheapest class.
