The Chicago Purchasing Managers’ Index (Chicago Business Barometer) rebounded significantly in December, rising 7.2 points to 43.5 after hitting its lowest level in 1.5 years in November. This reading came in above the projected 39.8. Regional business activity has now contracted for over two straight years.
